Our Method

Our Unique Approach To Tick Control

We take a unique approach to tick control. We arrive to your property and do a perimter spray around the yard, gardens, patios and/or anywhere else that we may find ticks located. Every time you cut your grass or trim your trees, the product we applied disappears. Also, extended periods of rainfall lower the efficacy of the product. Therefore, treating your yard once a year is enough to significantly reduce the tick population in your yard. Learn more about our approach.

INITIAL INSPECTION

A trained specialist will perform an inspection to examine the size of your yard and the density of your foliage through seeing your property on google earth. This step will help us set a final price!

Upon arrival, your technician will also look for signs of ticks or mosquitoes and identify potential breeding grounds.

EXTERIOR TREATMENT

Your technician will then safely treat your entire yard with a tick treatment, targeting trees, bushes, shrubs, and other heavily wooded areas. We’ll then return between Spring and Fall to inspect and treat your yard once again.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find your answer? Our team is always happy to help.

ARE TICKS DANGEROUS?
They can be! Ticks are known as one of the most dangerous pests and for a good reason. Some species transmit insect-borne diseases like Lyme Disease. But you don’t need to worry; our tick control service targets these blood-suckers, so they don’t target you. To schedule your first service.
Our tick control service lasts 3-4 weeks on average. Of course, this depends on how often it rains and which treatment option you choose: our synthetic option lasts much longer than the eco-friendly alternative. So we recommend scheduling your treatments every 21 days during the warmer months to protect your family from ticks.

Addressing the Tick Challenge in Aurora

Understanding Ticks and Their Presence in Aurora and Newmarket

Ticks are tiny bugs that suck blood. They can make people and pets sick. Around Aurora and Newmarket, you’ll find mostly black-legged ticks (sometimes called deer ticks) and dog ticks. These bugs like to live in forests, tall grass, and bushes. Even your backyard could have ticks.

Tick Identification:

Black-legged ticks are smaller than dog ticks. They look darker, too. These ticks can carry Lyme disease, which causes serious health problems if you don’t treat it fast.

Tick Habitats:

Ticks need wet and shady spots to live. Forests, ravines, and overgrown yards are perfect places for them to hide.

Recognizing Tick Activity in Your Yard

Knowing how ticks act helps you fight them better:

  • Questing Ticks: Ticks don’t jump or fly. Instead, they wait on leaves or grass with their front legs stretched out until an animal or person walks by.
  • Seasonal Tick Activity: Ticks are most active when it’s warm—spring through fall. Knowing this helps you watch out more during these months.
  • Lawn Tick Treatment: Cutting your grass short helps keep ticks away.
  • Keep Yard Tidy: Take away leaves and other junk where ticks might hide.
  • Mow Lawn Consistently: Mowing often stops tall grass from growing where questing ticks wait.

The Importance of Tick Control for Family and Pets

Keeping ticks under control protects both people and pets:

  • Protect Family: Tick bites can cause diseases like Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
  • Pet Health Protection: Pets also get sick from tick bites. Illnesses include Lyme disease and anaplasmosis.
  • Pet Safe Tick Control: Use treatments that work but don’t harm kids or pets.

When you take steps to reduce ticks near your home with help from Mosquito Man’s residential services, you can enjoy being outdoors without worrying about these pests!

What to Know About Ticks and Related Health Concerns

Common Ticks Found in Ontario

Ontario has a few common ticks. They are tiny parasitic arachnids that feed on blood. You’ll often find deer ticks, forest ticks, and ravine ticks here. Deer ticks matter most because they can carry diseases that hurt people.

You can spot these ticks if you know what to look for. Deer ticks are small, about the size of a sesame seed. They usually have a reddish-brown body with darker spots. Forest and ravine ticks look bigger but still cause health problems. They like wooded and brushy places where folks spend time outside.

Knowing how these tick species look helps you spot them early during outdoor fun around Aurora or nearby places.

Tick-Borne Illnesses and Local Awareness

Ticks in Ontario can spread some bad illnesses when they bite. Lyme disease is the most known tick-borne illness here. It comes from bacteria carried mainly by deer ticks. Early signs include rash, fever, tiredness, and joint pain.

Other local vector-borne diseases include Ehrlichia and Anaplasma infections. These also come from ticks but need different treatments if caught early.

Stopping tickborne illnesses starts with knowing about them. If you check your body for ticks after being outside, you lower the risk a lot.

Health experts say wear protective clothes, use insect repellents made for tick prevention, and keep your yard clean from tall grass or leaf piles where ticks hide.

When Ticks Are Most Active in the Aurora Area

In Aurora, tick activity changes with the seasons. Ticks become questing—that means they climb plants waiting for animals or people to pass by—mostly in warm months.

Tick season starts when temperatures get above 4°C (39°F). It lasts from spring through summer into early fall. Cold weather stops them later.

During this time:

  • Nymphs are active mainly from late spring to mid-summer.
  • Adult female deer ticks look for hosts mostly late summer into fall.

Knowing this helps you time yard treatments and other ways to keep your home safe from active ticking threats during peak times around Aurora.

Performing Tick Checks on Your Pets

Checking your pets for ticks often helps keep them safe. After they play outside, look over their bodies well. Pay close attention to places like ears, neck, belly, and between toes where ticks like to hide. Use your fingers or a fine comb when grooming your pet to find ticks early.

Watch how your pet acts, too. If they scratch a lot or seem tired, these could be signs of ticks. Checking dogs regularly stops tick problems before they get bad. This kind of parasite prevention helps your pet stay healthy.

Removing Ticks Safely from Pets

Knowing how to remove ticks right keeps you and your pet safe. Here’s how to do proper tick removal:

  • Grab fine-tipped tweezers or a special tick tool.
  • Hold the tick as close to the skin as you can with steady hands.
  • Pull straight up without twisting or crushing it.
  • Don’t pinch or lift the skin (avoid tenting) when pulling out the tick.

After taking out the tick, clean the bite spot with antiseptic. Put the tick in alcohol or a sealed container if you need to show it to a vet later. Acting quickly and carefully lowers risk of infections.

Protecting Yourself from Ticks During Outdoor Activities

When you go outdoors where ticks live, take simple steps to prevent bites:

  • Wear long sleeves and pants tucked into socks.
  • Use insect repellents approved by health experts on skin.
  • Stick to clear trails instead of tall grass or bushes.
  • Check yourself for ticks during and after being outside.

If you find red or swollen bites later, watch for infection signs like rash or fever. Get medical help if needed. When removing any ticks on yourself, use steady motions and avoid pinching skin (no tenting).

Essential Tick Prevention Measures for Pets

Keeping pets safe from ticks takes work all year round—especially in Aurora’s area where ticks are common. Try these key ways:

  • Use vet-recommended tick collars made for dogs.
  • Choose insecticides safe for pets that local vets suggest.
  • Get regular tick treatment from professionals based on local needs.

These steps support your pet health and safety by cutting down tick problems without hurting them. Mixing home care with expert help gives strong protection against ticks near Aurora homes.

Comprehensive Pest Prevention Solutions from Mosquito Man

Beyond Ticks: Integrated Pest Control for Your Property

Pest control means more than just getting rid of ticks. Integrated pest management (IPM) uses different ways to keep pests off your property all year. It includes eco-friendly pest control that avoids hurting the environment while targeting pests where they hide.

Licensed pest control technicians apply treatments the right way. You can count on their work to be reliable and safe, without using too many chemicals. IPM focuses on stopping pests before they become a problem. It watches for signs, prevents issues, and treats only when needed.

This method protects your home and yard but also helps keep local plants and animals safe.

Mosquito Control for a More Enjoyable Yard

Mosquitoes can ruin outdoor fun fast. Professional mosquito control lowers their numbers near your patio, garden, or play spots. This lets you enjoy your yard without bugs buzzing around or biting you.

It’s also important to protect your family from diseases spread by mosquitoes. Regular service keeps these pests down so you can relax outside during warm weather.

Flea Control for Enhanced Yard Protection

Fleas often catch rides on pets but live in yards too. They can bother both people and animals. Combining flea and tick control gives you better protection outside.

Flea treatments stop fleas at all stages — eggs, larvae, and adults — in shady grass or leaf piles. This helps keep fleas away before they get inside your home.

Addressing Other Common Pests: Ant, Rodent, Spider, and Wasp Control

Lots of homes deal with ants sneaking into kitchens or rodents looking for places indoors. Spiders might spin webs near doors, and wasps build nests that can sting when you’re outside.

  • Ant control gets rid of whole colonies instead of just killing bugs you see.
  • Rodent control uses traps and blocks entry points to remove pests safely.
  • Spider control clears cluttered spots and treats web areas to reduce numbers.
  • Wasp control removes nests carefully to keep everyone safe during active seasons.

Along with tick management services, these solutions make a full pest defense plan. Licensed pros use eco-friendly ways that fit each property’s needs well.
